Hometown Veterinary Partners is thrilled to welcome Dr. Colbi Carr to our Myrtle Beach team!
Dr. Carr’s path to veterinary medicine began long before she ever put on a white coat. Growing up surrounded by animals—from family dogs and a cat in a play stroller to her grandparents’ chickens, she discovered early on that her heart belonged to animal care. “As a child, I spent countless hours outside with our pets,” she shares. “Those early experiences really sparked my appreciation for the human–animal bond and the importance of compassionate care.”
After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Dairy Science, Dr. Carr originally planned to pursue large animal medicine. But while attending Long Island University College of Veterinary Medicine in Brookville, NY, she found herself drawn to the close relationships and rewarding challenges of small animal practice. “I realized how much joy cats and dogs bring me,” she says. “There’s something truly special about helping pets, and their people, through every stage of life.”
Before veterinary school, Dr. Carr worked in an intensive care unit for animals, where she developed a deep respect for emergency medicine and the teamwork that drives it. She is certified in Recover CPR and ABS Global Bovine Artificial Insemination, and she holds a VBMA Business Certificate, reflecting her commitment to both medical excellence and professional growth.
When describing her approach to care, Dr. Carr emphasizes communication and compassion. “I believe the best care starts with listening,” she explains. “When clients feel heard and pets feel safe, it builds trust—and that’s the foundation for great medicine.” She strives to treat every patient as if they were her own, working closely with clients and her team to create individualized care plans that meet each pet’s unique needs.
At home, Dr. Carr’s life is filled with laughter, love, and a little bit of cat chaos thanks to her two feline companions: Tenley, her loyal 12-year-old who’s been by her side throughout veterinary school, and Pi, a playful one-year-old who never met a cardboard box she didn’t like.
Outside the clinic, you’ll often find Dr. Carr soaking up sunshine with her husband, family, and friends—whether that’s by the pool, at the beach, or exploring the Myrtle Beach community she now calls home. She also enjoys live music, staying active, scrapbooking, and the occasional Target stroll (because who can resist?). Excitingly, she and her husband are expecting their first child—a baby girl—in January 2026!
Dr. Carr is eager to continue growing her skills in surgery and ultrasound, and most of all, to build lasting relationships with local pet families here in Myrtle Beach.
We’re so happy to have her join the Hometown family—please join us in giving her a warm welcome!
